Turn It Blue Ads was proudly designed as a Political-first ad platform and we assume most of our clients will be running political advertising more often than not. So, while there are a few extra hurdles to run political advertising these days, we've made every effort to make it as simple and easy as possible to remain compliant with current political advertising requirements. Read on to see exactly what you'll need to launch your political ad campaign within the Turn It Blue Ads platform.

In the first step of campaign set up, you'll notice the platform prompts you to select an advertiser.

If you have already set up your advertiser, you can choose it from the dropdown menu, but for all first-time advertiser campaigns, you will need to create a new advertiser.

If you are creating a new advertiser, you will see the following pop-up box once you select the "Add new advertiser" button:

On this page, you'll just need to enter the name of the committee/organization paying for the ads, the main domain URL of the advertiser, and whether or not the ads are political.

If you are not running political ads, and you are 100% sure your ads will not be construed as political ads, select "no" on the political advertising toggle and click "Submit" to save your new advertiser. You're now done setting up the new advertiser!

If you select "yes" on the political advertising toggle, you will be prompted to enter additional information:

If you are running ads on behalf of a Federal campaign: This includes those running for US Congress, US Senate, Federal PACs or SuperPACs, and any other FEDERALLY regulated committees. Your required Political Declaration will require the following information:

  1. Official Campaign Committee Name -- This is the name that is included on your 'Paid for by' disclaimer
  2. The Campaign Committee's Authorized Agent -- This is most often your committee's Treasurer, but can also be your Candidate or Campaign Manager in some circumstances. If you don't know who your authorized agent is, we recommend checking with your committee's compliance team or legal counsel.
  3. Campaign's Website URL -- This is the public facing website URL of the campaign committee
  4. Campaign Committee's Address and Telephone Number -- This should match the address and telephone number that is on file with the Federal Election Commission (FEC)
  5. Financial Disclosure URL -- This should be the link to your committee's FEC public disclosure filings. The information on this linked page should match all other information entered previously.

If you are running ads on behalf of a State or Local campaign: This includes those running for Governor, State Legislature, City Council, School Board, Ballot Measures, or any other STATE regulated or LOCALLY regulated committees.

Your required Political Declaration will be nearly identical to the Federal declaration, however you will NOT be required to submit a link to your campaign's financial disclosures. The State/Local political declaration requires the following information:

  1. Official Campaign Committee Name -- This is the name that is included on your 'Paid for by' disclaimer.
  2. The Campaign Committee's Authorized Agent -- This is most often your committee's Treasurer, but can also be your Candidate or Campaign Manager in some circumstances. If you don't know who your authorized agent is, we recommend checking with your committee's compliance team or legal counsel.
  3. Campaign's Website URL -- This is the public facing website URL of the campaign committee.
  4. Campaign Committee's Address and Telephone Number -- This should be the best address and phone number to reach the campaign.
