If you are running ads on behalf of an advocacy effort:

Many advocacy ad campaigns straddle the line between what constitutes 'Election Advertising' versus non-election advertising. Depending on the content of your ad creative (and if your advocacy effort does not pertain to an upcoming election, is not trying to sway public political opinion, and is generally considered non-partisan in nature), you might be able to run the ads without submitting a Political Declaration. However, this judgement call must be made solely by your campaign committee and its compliance / legal counsel.

The Turn It Blue Ads team cannot provide any explicit or implicit advice or guidance to you regarding how to designate your ad campaigns.

Please be aware that if you launch a campaign without the election advertising designation (and thus without submitting a Political Declaration), there is a risk that an independent audit of your ads will result in them being rejected and returned to you for revision and resubmission. This will inevitably delay your campaign and may potentially negatively impact the campaign's results.

If this type of rejection (due to incorrect categorization of your campaigns as non-political) becomes a repeated issue, the Turn It Blue Ads team reserves the right to suspend your account indefinitely for misuse of the platform. We have no control over the independent ad auditors; their decisions regarding ad designations are final.

If you would like to play it safe and simply designate your advocacy ads as 'Election Advertising', you may always do that proactively. Simply toggle the election advertising toggle in Step 1 of the Campaign Builder and submit your Political Declaration information as detailed in this overview guide.
