Creating a political audience is as simple as defining the segment of your community you want to talk to (or not talk to). A campaign may have multiple audiences for multiple purposes, so you want to think critically about who needs to receive each message at a particular time.


As you navigate the new Audience builder in the latest update to the Turn it Blue platform, you will start to build your Audience in Step 3. 

Step 3: Select Geo-Targeting



You can choose to ADD or EXCLUDE geographical areas (including state, congressional district, state legislative district, cities, and zip codes) based on your specific needs. You may add or exclude as many areas as you would like, as long as your universe stays sufficiently large for your ads to deliver.

When you have added your geographical area, just click "Next" in the bottom right-hand corner to move to Step 4.

Moving on to audience type, you can choose from a range of options, including -

One -Click Curated Audiences (more info)
These audiences are hand-built by the campaign pros at Turn It Blue Digital. These audiences make it easy to launch your campaign with pre-designed targeting universes, taking the guesswork out of building your audience.
Your own Custom Audience (more info)

Create a completely custom audience using demographic, behavioral and political attributes! Democratic women, 35+ with kids in the household? Check. Labor union members that historically vote in local elections? Yep. Nearly any combination can be designed to reach your ideal target universe!
Voter File & CRM List Match Audience (now at no extra cost!) (more info)
Have your own lists of targets from the voter file or another CRM? Use our built-in list match tool to target your lists at a 1-1 household level. We leverage multiple on-boarders and identity graphs to provide an industry leading match rate—often exceeding 90%!or a re-target audience from your website.  When you upload a list to match or create your own custom audience, these audiences will be available to use again in the 'Previously Saved Audiences'
Retargeting Pixel Audiences (more info)
You know those shoes you looked at last week, that keep following you around the internet? That's a re-targeting campaign! These can be especially effective to drive action from those that have already engaged with your campaign's website or social profiles—especially for fundraising campaigns.
When you have chosen your audience, click "Next" in the bottom right-hand corner. This will carry you to the next step of building your campaign - Adding Creative.
